Breast reduction
Reduction mammoplasty
Disproportionately large breasts are not only an aesthetic matter. Their weight causes back pain and poor posture, and affects daily life.
What it involves
Reduction mammoplasty removes excess tissue and repositions the breast, which improves its appearance and harmonises the body contour. It is one of the procedures with the greatest impact on the patient’s quality of life: it relieves the load on the back and shoulders and makes daily life easier.
Physical examination and planning of the technique determine the result.
Preparation
Before surgery, laboratory tests, an electrocardiogram and a cardiology assessment are requested, plus breast ultrasound. Preparation usually takes two to four weeks from the consultation.
Where it is performed
Consultations are available at any of the clinics, by scheduled appointment, and by video call.
Frequently asked questions
Does health insurance cover breast reduction?
Aesthetic surgery is usually not covered, but some reconstructive or functional procedures, such as breast reduction for hypertrophy, may be covered depending on the provider. It is advisable to check before booking.
